International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in partnership with Christian Commission for Development of Bangladesh (CCDB) scaled out this technology in the northern districts of Rajshahi and Naogoan in Bangladesh. This approach helped ordinary farmers to save at least 40 percent of irrigation water for their winter rice (Boro) and were able to successfully negotiate with the water sellers to lower the cost of water this current season. Both pump owners and the farmers were happy.
